US offended

The US government has expressed its displeasure regarding the failure of the government to implement recommendations of the LLRC as had been promised and not holding elections in the north state political sources. These sources also point out that Indian government too is concerned regarding the failure of the government to fulfill its pledges.

Recently, Indian government had stated that Sri Lanka might not get the support of India at the next summit of Human Rights Council.

Media had reported that the government of Sri Lanka, after the Human Rights commission sessions in Geneva, had pledged that it would implement recommendations of the LLRC and hold elections in the North. However, dissolving North – Central, Sabaragamuwa and Eastern provincial councils to hold elections without taking any measures to hold elections in the North has displeased the US government state reports.
